Domiciliary care explained
-
Domiciliary care is provided to people who still live in their own homes but require additional support with activities, including household tasks, personal care and any other activity that allows them to maintain both their independence and quality of life.
You may be starting to find it difficult to complete different areas of your routine and want some support whilst staying in familiar surroundings. Regular home visits from a fully trained care worker, from 30 minutes through to several hours a day, can be arranged to help you with a wide range of tasks.
You will receive your own bespoke care plan tailored to your unique needs, and you will have your own carer. They will help you achieve yours or your loved one’s personal needs and wishes while supporting you through your plan.
-
We will arrange to come and see the person requiring care and do a full assessment of their needs, together with their partner, family member/s and/or other carers. (Free of charge)
Each plan is flexible and unique, and all existing routines are taken into account – whether there’s a certain personal care routine that you have, medication schedule that you follow, or a hobby that’s important to you.
We offer flexible costs for visits lasting 30, 45, 60 minutes or longer as is required by your care needs. There are no other hidden costs!
A free home visit from your local care specialist to assess your needs (for care lasting more than a month) and ongoing support from a dedicated contact to ensure you’re happy with our service
-
If you’re receiving social care funding through your local authority for visiting care and have a personal budget or have opted for direct payments, we are able to accept top-ups to these payments.
By choosing this option, you have the flexibility to choose your care provider rather than this being arranged for you by your local authority. You can organise this care yourself and pay for it directly, topping up the payments if needed.
If you have social care needs, such as support with personal care, mobility or retaining your independence, you may be eligible for social care funding through your local authority. This can range from £16 to £23.92 per hour. This is also known as a personal budget, as it allows you to be involved with decisions relating to your care. This type of funding is means-tested, which means you may have to contribute to – or completely pay for – the overall cost of your social care.
To find out if you’re eligible, it’s best to contact your local authority to ask for a financial assessment. Once completed, they will confirm how much money they are responsible for providing to fund your care.
-
If you are eligible to receive a personal budget, your local council will either:
- Manage the budget for you
- Pay the money directly to another organisation i.e. Bridged Hearts Healthcare
- Pay the money directly to you or someone you choose – also known as a direct payment
You are also able to choose a combination of the different options above. For example, if you decided to set up a package of care with Bridged Hearts Healthcare, you could arrange for your local council to pay some of the money directly to us and send the remainder to you.
Direct payments enable you to decide your care provider of choice, liaise with them to set-up your care package and pay them directly. It means you can easily top-up payments if needed. We accept both direct payments and payments made from your local council on your behalf.
